Rural Crime

Sadly, as of August 2020, Lincolnshire had the highest rural crime rate in the country. Rural and wildlife crime includes various incidents such as, but not limited to, arson, livestock thefts, farm building trespass and vandalism, machinery theft, property damage, hare coursing, industrial fly-tipping and domestic abuse.

Farmers are regularly fighting to keep their equipment, livestock, land and properties safe from would-be criminals resulting in devastating financial loss in most cases. According to NFU Mutual theft claim figures, rural crime cost the UK £54.3m in 2019, this is the highest it has been in eight years. Lincolnshire was the worst hit county by far, with a loss of £2,841,146. A regional increase of 11.1% compared to the previous year.

All rural properties need a tailored approach to what security measures are taken to protect them. Some may need a state-of-the-art camera system, either motion detection, 24-hour camera recording device or simply a well-placed camera as a deterrent. Some may need a regular patrol from a licensed security guard, or even a surveillance guard on site throughout the day and night. Whatever suits each property the best, Comprehensive Fire and Security Solutions offers a range of packages built to suit your individual business needs.

The local community can be a real asset in fighting rural crime, utilising local Whatsapp groups and social media pages to alert each other of suspicious activities can be really beneficial and on some occasions, has been known to deter criminals somewhat.
